Grab an organic snack and awaken your conscientious cinofile: Whole Foods is sponsoring an environmentally themed film festival.
The “Do Something Reel” festival will run from April 1 through the end of May and screen films in cities like Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Kansas City, and Omaha.
Films being screened include “Urban Roots” which tells the tale of Detroit residents who converted vacant land into farmland; “Bag It!” which asks audience to consider the role of plastic in their lives; “Planeat” which discusses the environmental benefits of committing to a plant-based diet; and “On Coal River” about the lives of coal miners in West Virginia.
Tickets will be available through movie theatre box offices and on the festival’s website. Proceeds from the screenings will be worked into grants for the next series of films.
