Volunteer to Treecycle

Treecyling will take place this year on Saturday, January 7. With the help of our partners—Queen Village Neighborhood Association, Bella Vista Neighbors Association, the Washington Square West Civic Association, and the Friends of Jefferson Square Park—we are hosting five sites.  Trees and holiday greens will be chipped into mulch by Bartlett Tree Experts. The mulch generated this year will be used by Bennett Compost in the production of soil. Since 2011, Treecycling efforts have diverted more than 1,500 trees from the landfill. We hope you’ll join us this year in improving upon this number.

Volunteers are being sought for the below locations and shifts. Volunteer duties include: greeting neighbors, directing them where to drop their trees, assisting with unloading of trees, assisting with loading trees onto trucks for transport to the chipping site, collecting donations, and providing general merriment. Volunteers will be kept in coffee and snacks.

Volunteers from past years will attest to how Treecyling is a great—sometimes cold, sometimes freakishly warm, but always fun—way to start the New Year.
