By now, you’ve probably heard that after 85 days and 184 million gallons of spilled oil,  BP has (finally) capped the gushing oil well in the Gulf.  There is still a great deal of concern over the cap, the oil that’s already been spilled, and the long-term recovery of the people of the Gulf coast.  See the well live here.   For a great recap on what has been tried to this point, go here.

Also this week, we learned that many Gulf coast residents have been forced to give up their pets due to lost income.  Another heartbreaking reminder of how far the oil is actually spreading.

Good news comes in the form of 56 Kemps’ ridley sea turtles that were released back into the Atlantic off  of Florida’s Canaveral National Seashore after being rescued from the spill.
