Tech Bloom at the Flower Show

app, there's an app for that, The Flower Show App, 2012 Philadelphia Flower Show

Though often at odds, nature and technology can work in unison and sometimes, to our benefit.  At the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show, this will certainly be the case.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is offering a new mobile application that will allow visitors to the show to get immediate, current information on exhibits, performances, and other happenings on the show floor. The Flower Show App will also allow guests to vote in real-time for designers competing in competitions. The app will be available for smart phones, tablets, and other devices with internet connectivity.

Earbuds will play a key role in educating audiences about all the other buds they’ll see at this year’s show. By assigned numbers to exhibits, the Flower Show Cell Tour will provide audience members with supplemental information on what they’re seeing.

In addition to putting the show in the palm of your hand and in your ear, this year will also feature stunning sights. Philadelphia-based film company Klip will use technologies in video mapping projection to re-create the rolling waves of the islands.  Guests of the show will be treated to a wave wall upon entering the show floor. The effect is created—in layman’s terms—by manipulating pixels to make three-dimensional objects on flat, square spaces.

You can witness all these advancements at the show and at thefloweshow.com where they will be captured by three video cameras streaming live throughout the week.
