Sun and the Shirt on Your Back

mott 50, sunproof clothing, sunprotection clothing, SPF clothing, UPF clothing

The Philadelphia summer seems to have set in earlier this year than usual.  And with the summer come sun and the hot, red, burn of overexposure.  If you’ve been burned in the past, you might consider a new wardrobe.

Anne Botica and Monique Moore who have launched a new clothing line, Mott 50, which boasts a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) of 50.  The shirts provide 10 times more protection than your typical tee.

The duo started the line after realizing many of their friends were no longer interested in baring it all in the name of bronzing and covering up in sensible, protective summer attire like hats and tunics.

For Botica, whose family history includes cases of skin cancer, the line isn’t just about providing a fashionable alternative to sun protection, it’s personal. Proceeds from the line will go toward cancer research.
