Reuters reports that Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has taken a rather un-Republican stance on climate change by acknowledging that humans are responsible (in part) for climate change.
Speaking in Manchester, New Hampshire, Romney said, “I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that.” Romney went on to tell the crowd that he believes it is important for humans to reduce emissions and pollutants and on the US to end its dependence on foreign oil.
Romney leads polls in New Hampshire by a wide margin and is considered by many to be front runner for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. On the subject of climate change Newt Gingrich, one of Romney’s chief opponents, said last week that climate change is another way for “left-wing intellectuals” to “take control of lives.”
