UPDATE: A Reddit user has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for the White House brew receipes. As the President prides himself on transparency, home brewers may soon be duplicating his favorite beer.
Enjoying a cold one on the campaign trail is as common as kissing babies. President Obama himself has enjoyed a frosty beverage among the people at neighborhood joints across the country sometimes being greeted by chants of “four more beers!” Evidently, though, it’s local beer he most enjoys.
NPR reports that President Obama has taken his love of local brews on the road stocking his campaign bus with White House-brewed beer. At a stop in Iowa Tuesday the president even shared a bottle of the home brew with an interested constituent.
It’s been previously reported that White House Chefs began experimenting with home brewing last year and have since developed a White House Honey Ale, White House Honey Blonde and White House Honey Porter. Honey for the brews is sourced from the First Lady’s beehive. The brews have been served at White House-hosted Super Bowl and St. Patrick’s Day parties.
Though admittedly not a beer connoisseur, White House Spokesman Jay Carney called this real, American beer “superb.”
