The groundbreaking ceremony for the Race Street Pier took place today.
Mayor Nutter, Councilman DiCicco, Tom Corcoran of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, designer and architect James Corner, and Marilyn Jordan Taylor, Dean of Penn Design made remarks.
The groundbreaking marked the beginning of the proposed improvements to the Delaware waterfront meant to attract residents and visitors with open space, bike paths, and pedestrian paths from Snyder Avenue to Allegheny Avenue.
