The final version of Philadlephia2035, the regions comprehensive plan for the future, will be unveiled Tuesday at the Moore College of Art and Design.
The Comprehensive Plan is part of the city’s Integrated Planning and Zoning Process which strives to coordinate zoning changes and strategic planning in order to support and promote a well-designed city.
When zoning changes were first considered in 2007, it became obvious that the city’s plan created fifty years earlier was too in need of an update. The Citizen’s Planning Institute (CPI) was created to perform this process by informing citizens of proposed changes and seeking their input on how best to lay a framework for the future Philadelphia.
As part of the next step of the plan, CPI will introduce how strategic neighborhood planning in 18 districts will be implemented over the next four years. These plans will be used to determine what’s currently happening in the city’s neighborhoods and propose zoning code revisions that will better suit the future of each.
Also at Tuesday’s ceremony, CPI will honor recent graduates of their Citizens Planning program.
