University City District has received two grants to create pedestrian friendly plazas in areas once devoted to cars.
UCD will use the grants to fulfill their primary objective of making the district more walkable and pedestrian friendly.
The plazas will be constructed at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue, Florence Avenue and 48th Street and on Woodland Avenue near 42nd Street. Both plazas are expected to make high-traffic intersections safer and easier to navigate on foot.
UCD will meet with neighbors—most of whom strongly support the development—to prepare plans and discuss the construction process in the coming months.
