Green Your Bum

Scott Naturals

USA Today reports that the world’s biggest maker of household paper products is revolutionizing toilet paper (TP).

Kimberly-Clark will begin testing tubeless Scott Naturals toilet paper in Walmart and Sam’s Club stores.  If the product sells well, they will introduce the tubeless rolls into stores worldwide.

The roll will fit over the standard toilet paper spindle just like its tubed version, but will be useable through the last square.

The US generates 160 million pounds of toilet paper tube trash each year—long enough to stretch from here to the moon and back twice.

Brand manager Doug Daniels won’t disclose how Kimberly-Clark devised their tubeless TP, but believes that they have found a way to innovate the product.  Environmentalists are applauding this innovation, but hope the company will increase the recycled paper content in the product line.  (Scott Naturals currently contains 40% recycled materials.)
