Fall Garden Festival: What to Expect

It’s going to be a beautify, sunny Saturday, so grab your friends and family and head to the Philadelphia Navy Yard for PHS’s Fall Garden Festival!

Shop Till You Drop:

The annual Plant Dividend will feature shrubs, trees, perennials, and plants for your home grown and donated by PHS members and professional growers. (Valid PHS Membership Cards are required to enter the tent.  Be sure to bring yours or visit the PHS tent at the Festival to sign up.) 

Get ready for the 2010 Flower Show by stocking up on souvenirs, apparel, and bulbs. 

Choose from a wide variety of plants specifically suited for our environment with the PHS Gold Medal program.

Bid on one-of-a-kind plants, Flower Show merchandise, and other items at the 1:30 Live Auction.  (Cash and credit cards accepted.)

Expand Your Mind:

Take a tour of the Navy Yard aboard a double-decker bus.  Learn about the Yard’s history and plans for its future.  See the first LEED certified building in Pennsylvania.  (Tours depart near the membership tent.  Last tour leaves at 1pm.)

Visit the many green organizations on-site at the PHS Green Stop to learn more about adopting and maintaining a sustainable lifestyle. 

Attend The Gardener’s Studio’s lecture series on topics like Autumn Tree Care, Harvesting and Using Your Herbs, and Bringing your Houseplants Indoors.

Get Your Fill:

Cosmic Catering of Chestnut Hill will bring their locally grown hotdogs, burgers, wraps, fruits, and other treats to the festival for your dining pleasure. 

Have Some Fun:

Bring the kids for pumpkin and face painting and activities like Veggie Races, Kids Challenge, Tree ID, and more.

Listen to the sweet sounds of Prose and their eclectic mix of music.

Do the Right Thing:

The Garden Pot & Recycling Exchange tent will be accepting horticultural plastics (insert trays, fruit baskets, pots, etc.) for recycling and reuse from 9am to 4pm.
