Bennett Compost is offering Philadelphians another way to keep Christmas trees from the landfill.
In an email blast, the group announced to their subscribers that they’ll offer curbside pickup of Christmas trees for recycling at locally-organized events Saturday, January 7 and 14th. The mulch generated from these pickups will be spread at local parks and gardens and mixed with food waste Bennett collects to create nutrient-rich soil (composting).
Requests for a pickup may be made here. The cost is $15, $5 of which will be generously be donated to local civic and nonprofit groups hosting Treecycling events. (Please note that trees left curbside MUST be free of lights, ornaments and stands.)
