The New York Times is reporting that rescue workers and salvage crews working at the site of the shipwrecked Costa Concordia in Giglio, Italy have seen a slick oozing from the submerged ship.
The slick, which has been described as a “very thin film,” is being analyzed. Though its origin still unclear, Italian officials have placed booms around the ship to trap the slick.
A Dutch company, Smit, has been hired to extract a half million gallons of fuel from the ship.
