Personal care and cosmetics giant L’Oreal has announced that it will team up with Terracycle to create the Personal Care and Beauty Brigade.
Terracycle allows consumers and organizations to become members of its site and join Brigades to recycle many materials not traditionally accepted with curb-side pickup. The waste collected from L’Oreal and Garnier products will be repurposed as playground equipment.
Similar to other Brigades, L’Oreal will donate a portion (2 cents per item collected) to the member’s charity of choice.
Personal care packaging (what you use in the bathroom) accounts for one-third of waste sent to landfills.
Garnier introduced the Pure Clean line of shampoos and conditioners that come in biodegradable bottles last month.
