The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society brings the magic of the Philadelphia Flower Show back to the Pennsylvania Convention Center March 4-11. This year, they’ll welcome audiences to the sunny shores of Hawaii.
This year’s show features a new layout—the first since 1996—and hundreds of exhibits paying homage to the lush foliage and magnificent colors of the islands. Guests will enter the show beneath the ocean—an affect created using living plants and HD projections—and continue along a tropical path to witness a 25’ waterfall and Pele’s garden.
The orchid, the featured flower of this year’s show, will feature prominently in many exhibits. Showcase Exhibitors will delight audiences with themes inspired by hula, destination weddings, gardens fit for gods and surfers’ retreat.
Charged with maintaining the authenticity of the Aloha spirit, The Hawaii Tourism Authority will be bringing in hula dancers, musicians and craftsman. Hula performances will take place throughout the day.
The Wine & Spirits tent will be open for sampling and complimented this year by the opening of a restaurant on the show floor. For your entertainment, Sugar House Casino proudly presents the Man Cave. Complete with flat screen TV’s, games and frosty beverages it’s the perfect place for those of the masculine persuasion to comfortably discuss the intricacies of a proper lettuce wall. (Unlike in many residences, this man cave is also open to women.)
An impressive panel of distinguished designers and horticulturalists will offer free daily lectures on flower arranging, landscaping, growing the shows featured flower, the orchid, and more. Attendees can build upon what they’ve learned by patronizing the shows many vendors and re-creating the islands of Aloha at home.
